What we treat

Neck pain & headaches

Tension headaches, migraines and neck-related pain are among the most common reasons people see an osteopath. Treatment focuses on releasing tension and improving mobility in the head and neck.

While some people only suffer from occasional headaches, others unfortunately endure chronic headaches — such as tension headaches, cluster headaches, or regular migraines — which can significantly impact daily life.

Tension headaches are the most common form of headache. They are often attributed to irritation or inflammation of the pain-sensitive structures within the head and neck regions, and patients typically describe a dull ache, pressure, and tenderness in these areas.

Migraines are considered more intense than tension headaches, featuring similar but more severe symptoms — prolonged aching in the head and neck regions, light sensitivity, and general feelings of malaise.

Because numerous types of headaches exist, it is important to seek advice from a properly trained professional to ensure accurate diagnosis. Once a formal diagnosis is in place, it becomes much easier to develop a treatment plan aimed at reducing the symptoms and severity of headaches.

Common signs we see

  • Dull ache, pressure or tenderness through the head and neck
  • Prolonged aching with light sensitivity
  • Stiffness or restricted movement in the neck
  • Headaches that recur with stress, posture or long hours at a desk

How we approach headaches

We use techniques designed to release muscles and enhance mobility, concentrating on specific pressure points within the head and neck areas, and we look for underlying health issues or physical conditions that may be causing the pain.

Releasing muscle tension can decrease pain and recurrence of headaches, while improving circulation enhances blood flow and reduces the likelihood of headache development.

After an initial assessment we create a treatment plan tailored to your symptoms and overall health, with the goal of understanding the root cause of your headaches and eliminating triggers.
